Our Cause For 2014

This year we are raising money for three families that really need our love and support. Our first family is one of our own here at EFR. Johnny Manning’s daughter, Lauren Shreiner, was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis and has been battling it for many years. Johnny Manning and his wife have done everything for their daughter, making sure she received the best treatments and made constant travels back and forth to Miami where she was receiving treatments. In the past few month’s her condition’s started to take a turn for the worst, and Johnny had to take a lot of time off so he could be with his daughter. Tragically, Lauren lost her battle with cystic fibrosis and passed away at the age of 22.

Our second family that we were helping raise money for this year is the Rimes family. Captain Joshua Rimes is a Captain with CFR, and in early December of last year his son, Caleb Rimes, was at a party when he dove into a shallow cow pond and broke his neck paralyzing him from the chest down. Caleb was a star football player at Labelle high school, and was set to play Division 1 football at Marshal University. Doctors told Caleb he’ll likely never walk again, but Caleb’s family is out to prove them wrong. Since the incident Captain Rimes has taken a lot of his own time off to be with his son and family.

Out third family is Firefighter/Paramedic Danielle DiBenedetto was very recently diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer.  On Tuesday 2/25, she began her chemotherapy treatments and will be out of work on disability for an unknown amount of time.  FF/Medic Danielle DiBenedetto has been with South Trail FD for over 17 years, and before that was with Lee County EMS.  She is only 48 years old and has a 12 year old son.
